Capital of Ice Cream Culture

Beside Nightlife and Flouting River clubs, Belgrade has become popular for its Ice Creams.

When we were children, we loved them. When we grow up – we still do love them. If someone had a bad time, make their day and get them one. Either when we were children or now when we grow older, either if we have a bad or a good day, either it’s summer or winter, Ice Creams become part of our life’s and part of Belgrade culture.

Capital of Ice Cream

Belgrade grew up into capital of Ice Cream.  Back in the 20th century, people use to “sell” ice cream by going around popular Belgrade streets and getting eggs in return for scoop of ice cream. Nowadays you can buy ice cream almost in every store, on the streets or just go and sit in some comfy ice cream shop.

When it comes to Ice Creams, Belgrade has a lot to offer!

Let us introduce you with some of the awesome shops out there:

Moritz Eis

Nowadays Moritz Eis is one of the most popular ice cream shops. It is a Serbian brand, which expended their brand in a few other countries – Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Chile. What makes Moritz special is that they are making organic ice cream. Either you choose gelato or sorbet; they are made out of fruits and vegetables from our country. We recommend you to try Raspberry, Vanilla from Madagascar, which is made from real bourbon Vanilla produced in Madagascar. Pistachio produced in Turkey, or some of their interesting flavours like Basil, Orange and Melissa, Apples and cinnamon or lavender. You will definitely enjoy in their ice creams and their shop interiors. One thing is for sure; it’s one of the best ice creams that you will ever try.

Capital of Ice Cream Culture

If you want to try an ice cream with the oldest recipe, this would be the right place.  Pelivan is the oldest ice cream shop in the city. They make ice cream based on recipe from Turkey,  167 years already. No doubt the taste of their ice cream and the vibe of Pelivan itself, brings back the nostalgie from childhood.

Crna Ovca

Crna Ovca is a new brand on Belgrade ice cream market.  They have a huge number of different flavors that you can choose from. They made good  balance between urban and traditional. Be prepared to wait in a line to get your ice cream out there, take your time to chose the right one. We recommend you to try Kajmak or sesame, and if you are really curious, then try Beacon flavour.
